Praised for her "brilliance and beauty of tone" by the Baltimore Sun, flutist Nancy Stagnitta appears frequently as soloist and teaching artist in the United States and abroad. Recognized for her versatility, sincerity and passion, she was appointed as U.S.I.A. Artistic Ambassador to southern Africa, where she presented recitals and masterclasses in Angola, Botswana, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Namibia. She has also performed internationally at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy, in the former Soviet Union, and on the Voice of America broadcast network. She was recently named as Artist in Residence at the Montecito International Music Festival in California.

As concerto soloist, Ms. Stagnitta has appeared with the National Gallery Orchestra in Washington, D.C. and with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, where she is also principal flutist. She previously served as piccoloist with the Baltimore and Sarasota Opera orchestras, and continues to perform with the National Philharmonic. Summer appearances include performances at the Sarasota Music Festival, the Bowdoin Festival, and the Quartz Mountain Music Festival. As both recitalist and jazz artist, Ms. Stagnitta was invited to perform at the National Flute Association Conventions held in New York City, San Diego, Anaheim, Kansas City and Washington, D.C. She has recorded the music of contemporary American women composers for Capstone records, and also released a jazz recording with Chamber Music America Jazz Composition Award winner Rob Levit. A two-time recipient of the Maryland State Arts Council Solo Artist Award, her performances have been heard on National Public Radio's WETA in Washington, D.C., WBJC in Baltimore, MD, and WRMC in Middlebury, VT.

Ms. Stagnitta currently serves as Instructor of Flute and Chamber Music at the Interlochen Arts Academy, where graduates of her studio have subsequently attended The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, New England Conservatory, and many other respected conservatories and universities worldwide. She collaborates with Paula Robison and Judith Mendenhall to host the annual Interlochen Flute Institute, and has served as adjudicator for the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition. Ms. Stagnitta has offered masterclasses at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Arizona, Bowling Green State University, Louisiana State University, and at the Texas Music Educators' Association Conference. As the result of an ongoing collaboration with the dance and physics departments at Interlochen, she was invited to co-present a lecture on the relationship between body alignment, resonance, and injury prevention at the 2011 Performing Artist and Athlete Science Symposium at the University of Michigan.

Ms. Stagnitta earned the degrees of Bachelor and Master of Music from the Peabody Institute, where she received the Ashworth Prize. Her teachers include Robert Willoughby and Timothy Day.
